What is AfricaPay Ghana?
AfricaPay Ghana is a website that provides free, easy-to-use information on salaries, minimum wages, labour laws and workplace guides. It is designed with employers in mind, to provide up-to-date and relevant content.
Who can use AfricaPay Ghana?
It is an open service that can be used by everybody. But employers will find it especially useful to access information on labour laws and salary guides. Whether wanting to check on the correct amount of leave an employee is owed, or whether wages are in line with the national average, the website will supply all related information.
How does AfricaPay Ghana get its salary information?
Visitors to the site are encouraged to take the 10-minute Salary Survey. The confidential survey records salary data which is then compiled to reflect wage levels for a variety of different work sectors.
In addition, each year one lucky person from Ghana who takes the survey will receive a cash prize of a minimum wage – the equivalent of one month’s minimum wage salary. Click here for further details.
Who works with AfricaPay Ghana?
AfricaPay Ghana has partnered with the Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) and the Ghana Trade Unions Congress (GTUC), in order to ensure fairness in reporting.
Is AfricaPay Ghana associated with other organisations?
Yes. AfricaPay Ghana is part of the global Wage Indicator Foundation, which monitors and dispenses free wage and decent work information in over 60 countries via its websites. Countries such as South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe have national websites which reflect salary rates as well as providing detailed information on labour laws and decent work.
What about those who cannot access the internet easily?
An offline campaign to support the online website material will run concurrently with AfricaPay Ghana. Pamphlets, posters, debates and public meetings will form part of this. In addition, the website aims to stimulate social dialogue on socio-economic issues with stakeholders such as trade unions, employers, NGOs, government representatives, the scientific community and the media.
